Chocolate Stout Cake

I am attempting to use up everything in my fridge before leaving for a long Turkey Day weekend.  With about 3 cups of heavy whipping cream left, I figured a cake of some sort was in order.

This is where Dessert Girl's Chocolate Stout Layer Cake comes into play.  Let me say, this layered cake turned out MUCH better than the last one.  Parchment paper at the bottom of the pan sure did help.
I cut it out with my X-Acto knife and buttered it with leftover butter wrappers  :)

The cakes turned out perfectly!  I used Guinness Stout.

The frosting, I wasn't so thrilled about.  It turned out a bit runny, probably because I only used 1/2 as much chocolate as called for.  So, after refrigerating, I put it into my stand mixer and beat it until it formed a thick frosting.
 Then began layering!

The frosting was a bit hard to spread, but it turned out.
