The bf and I took a late night Meijer trip after hanging out with some friends. At 11PM the grocery section is very empty. It was nice. Only bummer was that they hadn't restocked a few items yet.
BUT, one thing that they did have was discounted bananas! These are the ones on that stand that says "Oops, we ordered too much". I bought 3 bags of them. They were really ripe, but not bad.
When I got them home, I chopped em up and put them on a baking sheet in the deep freezer for the night.
Then in the morning, they were mostly frozen and I placed them in a bag.
I also felt the need to make some OhSheGlows Strawberry Shortcake Stacked Pancakes. The photo on her website was irresistible.
One of the reasons I bought the bananas to freeze is for making Banana Soft Serve Ice cream. The topping on these pancakes is, in fact, strawberry-banana soft serve.
Don't these pancakes look like the best breakfast ever?
Yeah, they look amazing....
Sadly, the pancakes themselves were not very good :( I guess I am used to fluffy buttery pancakes. These were tough and the spices didn't seem to go well at all with the strawberry-banana flavor. Next time I shall make some buttermilk pancakes to go with these, or the bf's flat Finnish pancakes :)
