First I hemmed the sides by folding in about a quarter inch of fabric, ironing it, then folding another half inch and ironing. Ironing and using pins/safety pins help hold the fabric in place while sewing.
Once each side of each of the two curtains was hemmed in, I hemmed up the bottom of the curtain 4".
For the top of the curtain, I folded the fabric down 5" and sewed it in place. To add a ruffle to the top of the curtain, I added a stitch 1.5" down from the top. Here is the final product.
Yes, we have one of those wonderful bathrooms were EVERYTHING is blue. Walls, bathtub, sink, toilet, tiles on the floor, in the tub and halfway up the walls... I went with a conservative pattern on the curtain in hopes that it will be reusable when we get around to renovating the bathroom.
I had a long strip of extra fabric which I used to create ties for the curtain. I folded the strips wrong side out and sewed them 2" in. After turning them inside out (which would now be the right side!) I sewed the ends shut.
And here is the completely finished curtain with tie-backs.
